LG has announced that the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system is on its way to LG G2 smartphones in South Korea.
The update will be issued in other territories following its rollout in Asia, but reports suggest that it will not find its way to the UK until March next year.
LG has also pledged to bring future Android iterations to the LG G2 at a swifter rate than before.
Announced on October 31, Android 4.4 is currently available for a limited number of devices, including the LG Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Acer Nexus 7, Samsung Nexus 10, and US HTC One handsets.
Android 4.4 comes optimised for devices with as little as 512MB RAM on board to help eliminate the fragmentation problem long faced by Google.
However, recent statistics suggest that the software holds just 1.1% of the Android market.
