A number of smartphones have been released in 2013 that includes more advanced features than seen in 2012.
While the top technology firms such as Sony, Google, HTC and others revealed their smartphones in the market to win the battle against each other, firms like Samsung and LG showcased the new technology which, untill now, was only seen in movies.
Where Samsung introduced its smartwatch along with the curved screen Galaxy Round smartphone, LG on the other hand, revealed its first flexible screen smartphone in the market.
Amidst the list of smartphones, here we have the top 5 best smartphones for the year 2013.
LG G2
LG released its G2 handset after successfully teaming up with Google for its Nexus 4 device. The smartphone is the first to sport no buttons in the front or at the sides. What makes the LG smartphone different is its smooth operation on a 5.2in IPS display and the buttons placed at the back panel of the smartphone besides the camera.
The handset also boasts its 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and the latest Adreno 330 GPU for graphics. The G2's 13 megapixel camera is also one of the key features as it comes with an Optical Image Stabilization technology for a better shooting experience.

Google Nexus 5
Google's Nexus 5 handset has been one of the most talked about smartphones during the whole year. This time Google, along with LG, shoved off some bulk as compared to Nexus 4 and has made the smartphone lighter with a 5in Full HD IPS large screen and small bezels.
The smartphone, no doubt runs on the latest, Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. Supported by a decent amount of RAM - 2GB, the device's key feature was the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat OS which has been in the news from a long time. The 8 megapixel camera also does a decent job and has become better after the Android 4.4.1 Kitkat OS update.

One advantage the handset had was the inclusion of an external memory slot along with a massive 20 megapixel camera
Apple iPhone 5S
Apple's iPhone 5S was earlier rumoured to be the iPhone 6, however the firm surprised the fans by introducing 5S and 5C, which is the cheaper iPhone for budget customers. Apple iPhone 5S's key feature was its 64 bit A7 processor, which has not yet arrived in any other handset and the much popular fingerprint sensor technology. The A7 processor also made the handset's iOS 7 run buttery smooth.
The design of the handset is also attractive with shiny metal coating, specially the golden version. The handset sports a good 8 megapixel camera with a slo-mo video feature where the handset shoots at 720p resolution and doubles the frame rate to 120fps.

Nokia Normandy is reportedly a low-cost Android phone

According to a report in The Verge, the previously leaked, mysterious Nokia Normandy is an Android handset. Known internally under several different codenames, the device is said to be developed as an equivalent to the low-cost Nokia Asha range.

The Nokia Normandy allegedly runs heavily modified Android version – much like in the case of the Amazon Kindle Fire range. The OS will allow the handset to run popular Android apps, thus addressing a major shortcoming of the current Nokia Asha lineup.
The Nokia Normandy development is described as going at “full steam ahead”. The handset is reportedly planned for a release in 2014. However, with Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia's devices & services units all but completed, we are yet to find out what the Redmond giant’s plans for the Normandy are.
